Dani Carvajal seemed very close to joining Getafe. Yet the arrival of the former Real Madrid player is now strongly compromised after an incredible turnaround.

The Spanish side had even passed its medical examination. The deal with Getafe also seemed to have been acquired. But the economic control of LaLiga has complicated the operation, especially because of the salary held for Carvajal.

LaLiga blocks the operation

The problem is economic control over the contract. LaLiga believes that the salary proposed to Carvajal does not correspond to its profile and salary history. A review committee evaluates the player's age, former salary and market value.

This assessment could thus lead to a higher amount of Getafe's payroll than the actual contract. The club is therefore without sufficient margin to register the player under the conditions envisaged.

Ángel Torres blows hot and cold

The president of Getafe, Ángel Torres, himself sown doubt. After announcing that Carvajal had passed his medical examination, he then declared that "everything was broken." A few hours later, however, he suggested that the club would try to unblock the situation.

The file remains open. Carvajal's representative must return to Spain on Monday to resume discussions with Getafe and LaLiga. For the moment, the European champion 2024 remains without a club, while he thought he could continue his career in the Spanish capital.
