League of Nations: France hangs, Poland sticks

Meta-description: France conceded zero against Italy on Day 3 of the League of Nations. Poland crushed Romania 6-0.

Day 3 of the League of Nations continued this Friday with ten meetings on the programme. France and Poland marked the evening, but for very different reasons.

The Blues dropped their first points against Italy. Poland, on the other hand, offered a real offensive festival against Romania.

France held back by Italy

At the Stade de France, France was held in check by Italy (1-1). The Blues had opened the score after the break thanks to Michael Olise. The French winger found the skylight on a free shot beautifully executed at the 55th minute.

But Italy quickly reacted. Alessandro Bastoni took advantage of a French mistake to equalize the 68th minute. Despite several occasions, notably in front of a very inspired Gianluigi Donnarumma, France has not managed to regain the advantage.

The end of the meeting was even complicated for Zinedine Zidane's men. Dayot Upamecano was expelled after a second yellow card at the 85th minute. The Blues, however, remained at the top of Group A1 with seven points, ahead of Belgium (6 points), Italy (4) and Turkey (0).

This meeting therefore put an end to France's failure since the beginning of this campaign. The Blues had previously defeated Turkey and then Belgium. They will now have to react on Monday against the Belgians.

Poland crushes Romania

The other big fact of the evening came from Warsaw. Poland literally swept Romania with a 6-0 victory.

Robert Lewandowski quickly showed the way. The Polish captain opened the penalty score before recidivating after the break. A goal against his Bogdan Racovitan camp then aggravated the situation for the Romanians.

Piotr Zielinski added a fourth goal before Jan Bednarek also took part in the offensive festival. Lewandowski finally completed his double at the end of the game to bring the score to 6-0. Poland thus signs an offensive demonstration and resumes its campaign in Group B4.
