Morocco opens a new page with its national women's team. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has formalized the appointment of the French Eric Blahic as head of the Lions of Atlas, replacing Spanish Jorge Vilda. The new breeder will quickly get into the spotlight with two friendly matches against Uzbekistan.

Eric Blahic takes command

Eric Blahic is officially the new selector of Morocco's National Women's Team A. The French technician is already leading his first rally at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora.

For his debut, he will be entitled to a double friendly confrontation against Uzbekistan. The first meeting is scheduled for Friday 9 October at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, before a second meeting on Monday 12 October at Al Madina Stadium.

A former deputy in several French clubs, Éric Blahic also has an important experience with the French women's team. He worked alongside Hervé Renard between 2023 and 2024. His appointment as head of Morocco, however, represents a new stage in his career, since he is now taking the lead in selection A.

Jorge Vilda leaves the Moroccan bench

This appointment marks the end of Jorge Vilda's adventure with the Lions of Atlas. Arrived in October 2023 after winning the Women's World Cup with Spain, the Spanish technician led the Moroccan selection for almost three years.

Under his leadership, Morocco reached the women's CAN 2025 final, before finishing fourth in the 2026 edition at home. The Atlas Lions were eliminated in the semifinal by Cameroon in the shots at the goal, then beaten by Algeria in the third place game.

FRMF did not formally communicate the precise reasons for the end of its collaboration with Vilda. His departure, however, came after a CAN 2026 at the foot of the podium.

A first list with five new

To launch its mandate, Eric Blahic convened 31 players for the two-game rally against Uzbekistan.

The new breeder named five players for the first time in the A category: Ikram Neddar, Melek Hader, Assala Gharrou, Lina Jamai and Salma Temmar.

Several players also make their return to selection, while the main executives remain present. Khadija Er-Rmichi, Ibtissam Jraidi, Ghizlane Chebbak, Hanane Aït El Haj, Nouhaila Benzina, Maryame Atiq, Yasmin Crabet, Sanaâ Msoudy and Sakina Uzraoui are among others.

With this first list, Eric Blahic has a mix of experience and new faces to start his Moroccan adventure. His first test quickly arrives with these two dates facing Uzbekistan.
