Cristiano Ronaldo delivered his version of his departure from the Portuguese rally. The Portuguese captain accused Jorge Jesus of having broken two commitments, but did not exclude a return to selection.

Cristiano Ronaldo came out of silence. In a long statement, the 41-year-old Portuguese returned to the incident that prompted him to leave the rally before the League of Nations match against Denmark.

According to him, Jorge Jesus originally planned to preserve him during meetings against Norway and Denmark in order to manage his physical condition. However, the breeder then told him that he would enter for 30 minutes against Norway.

Ronaldo denounces two broken promises

Ronaldo explained that he had then warmed up from half-time without finally entering the game. For him, therefore, Jorge Jesus did not respect his word.

A new discussion would then have brought together the two men, with the presence of Simão Coutinho, sports director of Al-Nassr. An eight-point document was intended to enable Jesus to explain the situation publicly and recall that Ronaldo had never required any playing time.

But the Portuguese considered that the press conference technician's comments did not correspond to what had been agreed. He thus claims that this situation caused a second breach of confidence and led to his leaving the rally.

Ronaldo accepts a possible sanction

The quintuple Ballon d'Or, however, does not seek to escape the consequences of his departure. He apologized to his teammates and Portuguese supporters, while recognizing that his captainship made his gesture more serious.

Ronaldo even asks the Portuguese Federation to evaluate and sanction his behaviour. Despite this break with Jorge Jesus, he ensures that he does not close the door to the selection.

If he stays fit with Al-Nassr and continues to score, Ronaldo says he is ready to return to Portugal after purging a possible suspension. For his part, Jorge Jesus denied the existence of an agreement with his captain, while leaving open the possibility of a return.
